Hellige dager

Kyrre Heldal Karlsen

29.11.2014 - 01.02.2015
Oslo S

«Hellige dager» (Holy Days) is the title of Kyrre Heldal Karlsen´s light installation on the façade of Oslo Central Station. It can be seen as a unifying element for festive celebrations for different faiths and cultures. Solemn images are reflected in the golden facade to mark that the sun is turning and we are heading for lighter seasons.

The façade of Oslo Sentral Station facing Jernbanetorget was covered in gold foil with 2150 bright spots. Light artist Kyrre Heldal Karlsen created the project. From a distance the dots could be seen as a coarse pixelated video screen, where Heldal Karlsen presented a series of short movies of winter night stars, aurora and glimpses of summer Norway. The artist wants the artwork to give us small reminders that the sun turns and it becomes lighter again.
