Torunn Skjelland

Oslo S

The exhibition «Take a deep breath» by Torunn Skjelland opened on the 19. June at Oslo Central Station.

Torunn Skjelland was invited by Rom for kunst to create an exhibition on the themes climate, responsibility and awareness during three summer months at Oslo Central Station.

Skjelland has concentrated on problems concerning air quality. With the expression ”Take a deep breath” she wants us to reflect over the quality of the air we breathe in, and invites us to sit down for a short break on her organic sitting installation. The installation consists of the”sedum” plant and offers a green space for relaxing in the middle of the tarmaced city centre of Oslo.

The exhibition also consists of a video showing young children holding their breath.

Torunn Skjelland is educated at the Kunsthøgskolen i Bergen avdeling Kunstakademiet, and she lives and works in Bergen.

«Take a deep breath» is supported by Vital Vekst AS and Aaltvedt Stein AS.
